Guidance on how visiting undergraduate student records in resit are managed. A key change to the taught assessment regulations for academic year 2019/0 allows visiting undergraduate students two assessment opportunities for each course. See section B.27: https://www.ed.ac.uk/academic-services/policies-regulations/regulations/assessment In anticipation that this change will result in a significant increase in visiting undergraduates undertaking resits, the Student Record Operations team has designed a process for managing these records, in consultation with Schools, the Visiting Student Office, and teams within Student Systems & Administration. Details of the process can be found below: At the undergraduate course result deadlines, Student Record Operations will run a report to identify any visiting undergraduate students with a resit attempt on their record. Within a week of the course result deadline, Student Record Operations will apply a flag to these students and add an extension to their records to cover the period between their programme end date and the August resit exam diet. Within a week of the course result deadline, Visiting undergraduate students with no resit records will be closed as successfully completed as in previous years, and their transcripts sent out by the Student Information Point. Prior to the resit diet, Schools will confirm resit arrangements with students. PLEASE NOTE: If a student is returning to the UK to complete a resit and has Visa requirements, the School must inform Immigration Services of the arrangement. Within a week of the end of the resit diet, Student Record Operations will run a report against the flag and close the records as successfully completed. The Student Information Point will then send out any remaining transcripts. Additional information for Student Systems & Administration teams: the flag applied to the students is RFT code VS, VUG RESIT, Visiting undergraduate student undertaking resit Please note, course result deadlines are available in the key dates on the Student Systems website: https://www.ed.ac.uk/student-systems/key-dates This article was published on 2024-07-29
