How to unpublish a progression decision

If you're a progression superuser, you can unpublish a progression decision through the Student Hub.

This process only applies to progression decisions. You can't change award information after it's been published. If you need to make changes to awards, please see Request changes to award information.

If you're not a progression superuser you will not be able to complete this process. 

Process Summary

  1. Go to the Student Hub and retrieve the student you want to unpublish for
  2. Click on the Progression tab
  3. Under the Progression History section, click on the academic year in the Programme Session column
    • This will open a "Progression Record" pop up box
  4. Click the Unpublish decision button and confirm the action
    • If you can't see this button you don't have superuser access

This decision has now been unpublished. The student's progression decision will now show back as "Ratified" in the Progression & Awards system.

MAB impacted decisions - if a Deferred decision was published

If students were affected by the MAB industrial action, then they may have received a deferred decision in Summer 2023. If they are now eligible for an award, then the previous deferred decision will need to be unpublished before publishing the award.

Unpublishing students' progression can only be done one-by-one by a Progression and Award superuser, so if you have a cohort of MAB affected students that need this unpublished for their new award to be processed, please fill out the template below and send to StudentSystems@ed.ac.uk so we can unpublish these for you.

Please note that this should only be used for cohorts of students. Individual records should still be processed by the Progression and Award superuser as per the guidance at the top pf the page.
