Adding award information

If the student will receive an award you may need to add the award details into their individual progression record.

Process Summary

  1. Click the Edit button on the end of the student's progression line to access their individual record
  2. In the "Progression details" section, edit the relevant fields. Use the table below under "Award information" for guidance
  3. Once changes have been made, click Save Changes.

 

Award information

The following table outlines the sections under "Progression details" that you can edit, and what each section means. 

Progression

The system may calculate a recommended award, or indicate an award type should be selected. For example "No progression: Undergraduate Diploma awarded". If you need to change the decision, click the edit button and choose a new one from the drop down list.

Is the award programme different from the programme of study?

Tick this box if the award programme is different from the programme of study.
Award programme

If you tick the above box, this field will appear and will be pre-populated with the current programme. Click the edit button and select a new programme from the drop down list.

If the award programme you need is not on this pre-populated list, please contact Student Systems. Do not choose an alternative or similar programme.

Award Choose the award from the drop down list. You'll only see awards specific to the programme.
Classification Choose the award classification, e.g. 1st, 2:1, with merit, pass etc. These options are specific to the award you have selected.
Award text Fixed additional wording to be published with an award. The choices available on this list are specific to a college or school and whether the programme is undergraduate or postgraduate. If award text is not relevant for your programme, the Edit button will be unavailable.

 

Ordinary/General award

If the student is on an Undergraduate Honours programme of study but you’d like to publish an Ordinary/General award for them, please make sure to edit their progression record in the following way:

Progression

Select "No progression: Ordinary/General degree awarded" from the dropdown list.

Is the award programme different from the programme of study?

Tick this box.
Award programme

Select "Arts, Humanities and Social Science (BA) (AHSS) (School)" or "BSc Ordinary Sciences (School)" from the dropdown list.

For College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine students, please select the most appropriate programme from the dropdown list.

Award Select "BA(AHSS)" or "BSc (Ord)" from the dropdown list.
Classification Select "Pass".
Award text

Select the appropriate option (such as the one containing the Honours programme’s name) from the dropdown list.

If the option is missing, please contact studentsystems@ed.ac.uk and let us know the student’s UUN, the Honours programme’s code and the exact wording of the text, so that we can add the option to the system.
