Provisional marks

This process will not calculate or publish the final course results, only the item or assessment marks you select. 

Publish provisional marks

The level of marks you can publish depends on the assessment type and structure.

Coursework assessment types

If the assessment has NO components and items underneath you can publish the provisional marks once they have been entered. The assessment mark and grade will be displayed to the student once published.

If the assessment has components and items, you'll only be able to publish the item marks. Even if the component and assessment marks have been calculated, these won’t be published until the overall course result is.

Exam assessment types

Only the overall exam assessment mark can be published to the student.

If the exam has NO components and items, you can publish the provisional marks once they have been entered.

If the exam has components and items, you need to calculate the exam assessment mark before it can be published. Only the overall exam mark/grade will be published to the student (not the components or items).

How to publish provisional marks

1. From the Assessment Hub home screen click Provisional marks
2. On the "Publish/unpublish provisional marks" screen, select the tick box beside the item or assessment you wish to publish
3. Click the blue "Publish marks" button at the bottom of the page and then confirm the action by clicking publish again.
   • Once this has finished processing, you'll see a box confirming if the marks have been published or if there were any errors
   • If you refresh the page afterwards the statistics information on the right side will be updated to show you the percentage of marks now published.

What will the student see?

The student will find their marks published on the "Assessment" tab of their EUCLID Self Service Portal.

They'll see the item or assessment marks you published along with a clear statement that the marks are provisional and subject to change. Here's a copy of the message:

For pass/fail courses students will see a message that reads: This is a pass/fail course, and your final mark will be available after the results have been ratified by the exam board.

Unpublish provisional marks

If provisional item or assessment marks need to be unpublished you can do this through the same screen and a similar process.

Unpublishing will remove the selected item or assessment marks from the view of all students on the course.

How to unpublish provisional marks

1. From the Assessment Hub home screen click Provisional marks
2. On the "Publish/unpublish provisional marks" screen select the tick box beside the item or assessment you want to unpublish
3. Click the blue "Unpublish marks" button at the bottom of the page and then confirm the action by clicking unpublish again
