Making changes following Exceptional Circumstances outcomes

Guidance on how to make various changes to a student’s mark, progression decision or award details following an Exceptional Circumstances outcome.

Leave notes about your actions

Please leave notes about your actions in Assessment Hub and in Progression & Awards.

  • Assessment Hub > “Process Course Result” screen for the individual student > “Course note” field.
  • Progression & Awards > The student’s progression record > “Internal note” field.

These notes will be shown on Course Board Reports and on Progression and Award reports.

Change course mark or course grade

If you need to change a course mark or course grade, please make these changes in Assessment Hub. Please make sure to Unpublish and Unratify the course result before changing any marks or grades.

If these changes will affect the progression decision or award details, you will need to make the changes in Progression & Awards. Please see below for more guidance.

Exclude a course from calculation

If you need to exclude a course from calculation, please open the student’s progression record in Progression & Awards, and set the course’s selection status to:

  • “Disregard course from award calculations” if you wish to exclude only the course’s mark from calculation.
  • “Non-counting credit” if you wish to exclude a course’s mark AND credits from calculation.

See Change course selection status for more detailed guidance.

Please re-run calculation after changing a selection status.

Change progression decision or award details

If you need to change a progression decision or award details, please open the student’s progression record in Progression & Awards and make changes there.
