Providing Exceptional Circumstances outcomes on a progression record

Guidance on providing and viewing Exceptional Circumstances outcomes on a progression record in Progression & Awards.

When preparing for a Programme Board, you may need to provide or view outcomes for Exceptional Circumstances (EC) cases.

You can provide a new EC outcome by opening the student’s progression record and launching their Process Course Results (PCR) screen in Assessment Hub.

You can view an existing EC outcome on the student’s progression record.

Retrieve students with EC cases in Progression & Awards

  1. Open the screen of a particular cohort in Progression & Awards in the normal way. Guidance below:

Provide or view an EC outcome

Each EC case is applied to both the course-level and the assessment-level.

For both levels, you need to first provide a recommended outcome and then provide a final outcome in Assessment Hub.

The progression record > “SC or EC Outcomes” tab has three decision stages depending on where you are in providing course-level outcomes.

Stage 1 - Awaiting recommended outcome

  • Course-level Special or Exceptional Circumstances: Awaiting recommendation
  • Decision stage: blank
  • Action: Provide recommendation

This stage means no recommended outcome has been provided at course-level in Assessment Hub.

The next step is to click the “Provide recommendation” link to launch the PCR screen for this student in the course’s Assessment Hub, and then select a recommended outcome.

Step-by-step guide on the PCR screen can be found in the “Provide a recommended outcome” section on the below page:

Stage 2 - Recommendation provided and awaiting final outcome

  • Course-level Special or Exceptional Circumstances: the recommend outcome provided in Assessment Hub

The next step is to click the “Provide outcome” link to launch the PCR screen for this student in the course’s Assessment Hub, and then select a final outcome.

Step-by-step guide on the PCR screen can be found in the “Provide a final outcome” section on the below page:
