Guidance on how to search for students with Exceptional Circumstances and how to record outcomes at course-level in Assessment Hub. Overview All assessments where a exceptional circumstance has been validated by the Exceptional Circumstances (EC) team requires an outcome decision, which is recorded in the Assessment Hub.Assessment/component/item level decisions are applied to each individual assessment/component/item where a student has an EC. Please see the bottom of this page for the guidance link.Once an assessment-level decision has been recorded, you may need to also record a course-level decision for the overall course result, when the EC has potential impact on the student's progression outcome or award outcome. Making course-level outcome decisions A course-level EC outcome decision is considered as a requirement of the Progression and Awards Board. The available decisions of listed in Section 10.6 of the Exceptional Circumstances Policy.View the Exceptional Circumstances PolicyThe case link for each assessment will be displayed in Assessment Hub. Staff who have access to the Assessment Support Tool can open the links to view the case details. The below flowchart demonstrates the overall process of making EC outcome decisions. Recommended outcome and final outcome There are two levels of outcome decisions to be made for each course with an EC.Recommended outcomePre-Board Committee makes decision on the recommended outcome and records it in Assessment Hub, before the Board meets to decide on the final outcome. The recommended outcome will not be displayed to the student at any point.Final outcomeThe Board makes decision on the final outcome by either agreeing with the recommended outcome or changing it.The final outcome will be displayed to the student after the course result has been published. The reason of seperating the recommended outcome and final outcome is to support the different Committee and Board level decision-making processes. However, a recommended and a final outcome decision can be made at the same time if it is more suited to the individual School's process.Selecting and saving a final outcome does not affect the course mark. For the outcome to be taken into consideration, the overall course mark has to be ratified and published.
