Terms and conditions for the India Merit Scholarship. BackgroundThe University of Edinburgh has a strong history of global partnership, community and exchange. The Scholarship Award The University is offering a new international scholarship for the most academically gifted Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Masters students applying from India. These awards, which cover £5000 towards tuition fees for PGT Masters students studying on campus during the 2024/25 academic year, will be tenable for the first year of study only. Eligibility Criteria The India Merit Scholarship will be awarded to any successful applicant who: Firmly accepts an unconditional offer to join any of the University’s full-time, on-campus PGT Masters programmes. If you are required to pay a programme deposit for your Masters programme, and you do not accept and pay the required deposit within the given time frame, then you will forfeit your scholarship offer as well as your programme offer Is domiciled in India at the time of application Has international fee status:International Fee StatusIs either fully or partially self-funded Has achieved an undergraduate degree studied and awarded in India at the minimum level outlined in the table below. If you are subsequently offered and accept another University of Edinburgh scholarship, you must let us know by contacting:futurestudents@ed.ac.ukYou are studying for an online degree You are currently already studying for a postgraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh within the 2023-24 academic year Application Process Scholarships are automatically awarded to any student who has accepted an unconditional offer on a PGT Masters programme and meets the eligibility criteria outlined above. No separate application is necessary, and the Scholarship will be automatically applied to your student tuition fee balance. For entry into the 2024/25 academic year, the Scholarship will be automatically awarded to every eligible unconditional offer holder who achieves the listed grades. Terms and Conditions You will only be eligible for the Scholarship once you have received and firmly accepted an unconditional offer to join any of the University’s full-time, on-campus PGT Masters programmes, and meet the grade requirements outlined in the table above. If you are required to pay a programme deposit for your Masters programme, and you do not accept and pay the required Masters programme deposit within the given time frame then you will forfeit your scholarship offer as well as your programme offer. This scholarship is a £5,000 tuition fee reduction only, and applied directly towards your tuition fees. It is not transferable as a cash award or in any other format. Only one University of Edinburgh scholarship per student can be accepted, and you must inform us by email if you are in receipt of any other University of Edinburgh scholarships or bursaries. If offered multiple awards, you must select which one to accept. In the absence of instruction from you, we will award the higher-value scholarship. futurestudents@ed.ac.ukThe India Merit Scholarship is only available to students starting in the 2024/25 academic cycle, therefore it is not possible to defer the award of this Scholarship to future academic years. If studying on a programme of more than one year in length, the Scholarship can be used for the first year of study only. Candidates receiving a full tuition fee scholarship from an external third party for the academic year would not be eligible for this Scholarship. However, if you are receiving partial tuition fees from an external third party, you may still be eligible for this Scholarship, as long as the combined total of all awards does not surpass the full tuition fee for the academic year. Award recipients are responsible for all costs and expenses relevant to their study, accommodation and other matters which are not covered by this Scholarship, including any remaining tuition fee payments, accommodation, meals, books, travel, etc. As detailed above, you may be required to provide a deposit or pre-payment for your programme of study if this is a requirement of your offer. This Scholarship is personal to each recipient and cannot be transferred to any other party. Termination Conditions Any scholarship is automatically withdrawn if you decline your programme offer or fail to meet the conditions set out in your offer letter. You must ensure that your application and any supporting documentation are correct, complete, accurate and up-to-date. You agree to provide the University with any additional information we may reasonably require in connection with your application. Where an applicant submits false, fraudulent, incorrect or misleading information, in line with our admissions fraud policy the University reserves the right to: reject an application for a scholarship, bursary and/or other award; withdraw any offer for a scholarship, bursary and/or award (if already made); and notify any relevant Admissions team. Admissions Fraud PolicyYou must notify the University promptly by email if there are any changes in your circumstances relevant to your application, your eligibility and/or any other scholarship or bursary you may have been offered by the University of Edinburgh. The University reserves the right to withdraw any offer or cease the payment of any award, as appropriate, where your circumstances change. futurestudents@ed.ac.ukIf you withdraw from your programme of study or are withdrawn by the University, the Postgraduate Taught Fee Policy shall not apply to any portion of tuition fees paid for by the relevant award. This Scholarship is for one year only and the University will not fund any re-sits. Postgraduate Taught Fee PolicyFailure to pay any outstanding tuition fee balance will result in the withdrawal of the Scholarship award. Students must abide by the Code of Student Conduct and the Degree Regulations. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.
