Funding Opportunities in the School of GeoSciences

The University will offer PhD scholarships for students starting their PhD research at the University in the 2025-2026 academic session.

The Energy Transition Centre for Masters’ Training (CMT) will be awarding 6 CMT Bursaries, each valued at £6000 per annum, for students who will be enrolled in an energy geoscience-related MSc course for the forthcoming academic year 2025/26.

The principal objective of this CMT initiative is to attract highly talented students into vocational training in energy geoscience; an integral UK “home-grown” part of the energy sector. As we are well aware, the continuing decline in student (UG and PG) numbers in geoscience over the past few years is a concern. The intent of the Bursaries is to make a contribution to reverse this trend.

The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust is running the scheme to help create a long-standing legacy for the future. The award aims to champion research and innovation for UK agriculture, whilst also supporting promising individuals who are passionate about making a difference to the industry.
The Centenary Award aims to give a number of selected postgraduate students in agriculture financial assistance for their studies.
