Funding for Japanese Studies - Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation Award

Designed to support the development of Japanese Studies in the UK, this scheme annually provides a limited number of postgraduate awards.

Masters Students

Applicants to the MScR programme in Japanese are automatically considered for this award provided they apply by a certain date (date to be confirmed but usually by early March 2026); applicants to the taught masters (MSc) in East Asian Studies who take the Japanese pathway through the programme can request to be considered, again if they apply by early March 2026

PhD Students

Applicants to the PhD programme in Japanese are automatically considered for this award provided they apply by a certain date (date to be confirmed but usually by early March 2026); applicants to the PhD in East Asian Studies who have a research focus on Japan can request to be considered, again if they apply by early March 2026.
