Edinburgh Global Online Learning Scholarships for Refugees and Displaced Students

The University of Edinburgh will offer 20 scholarships for eligible refugees and displaced students studying towards a part-time distance learning programme offered by the University.

Each scholarship will cover full tuition fees and will be tenable for the normal duration of the programme of study. 


Scholarships will be available for applicants that are displaced and/or have refugee status commencing an eligible part-time online learning programme offered by the University in session 2025/2026.

Applicants must be displaced in countries based within the categories 'Least Developed Countries', 'Other low income Countries' and 'Lower Middle Income Countries' as stated by the Organisation for Economic Corporation and Development Assistance Committee. Please note the eligible countries are not a 1:1 match to the full DAC list. Rather, the DAC list has been used as an information source to help define the set of eligible countries:

Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.


The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the strength of a personal statement.  Priority will be given to those who have not had the opportunity to study at masters level previously.
