Future Medicine: Clinical Scholarship

The Future Medicine: Clinical Scholarship is for full-time students in years 4, 5 and 6 of the MBChB degree programme who live in the UK. The Future Medicine Clinical Scholarships are funded by the generosity of our supporters.

We are offering a minimum of 10 scholarships, each worth £3,000 each. The scholarship will be paid in two equal instalments: one in August 2026 and the second in January 2027.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support during your studies and clinical placements. It is intended to help reduce the need for part-time work, allowing you more time and flexibility to focus on your academic and placement responsibilities.

The funding can be used for living expenses, investing in your studies, and participating in extracurricular activities such as conferences and professional events. This scholarship is intended to enhance your overall university experience.

The Future Medicine: Clinical Scholarships are funded by the generosity of our supporters. This year, students will be applying for the following named scholarships:

  • Bett Clinical Scholarship

Dr Bett graduated MBChB in 1951 and went on to build a career in general and paediatric surgery in the United States. His wife, Hanna Bett, a former nurse, shared his belief in the value of medical education and the opportunities it can create. Their generous donations support both the Bett Clinical Scholarships and the Murray McCallum Bett Travelling Scholars Fund. Read more about their legacy in Enlightened.

  • Dr Kirsty Dundas Clinical Scholarship

This scholarship has been generously funded and named by Edinburgh Medical School MBChB alumnus Dr Michael JunHao Qiu, who was mentored by Dr Dundas through his time as a medical student. During a period marked by significant personal and family hardship, Dr Qiu thanks Dr Dundas for her unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement in helping him persevere through his studies.

To be eligible for the Future Medicine: Clinical Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

You must be fully matriculated on the MBChB degree programme and entering years 4, 5 or 6 in August 2026.
