The Bseisu-University of Edinburgh Scholarships

The University of Edinburgh has partnered with the Bseisu Foundation (https://www.bseisufoundation.org) to provide scholarships for displaced students from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine to undertake masters programmes in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The scholarships are for a one-year, full time, on-campus postgraduate programmes offered by the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. 

To be eligible for the Bseisu-University of Edinburgh Scholarship 2026/2027, applicants:

  • must be nationals of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon or Palestine
  • must be refugees or displaced, including internal displacement
  • may be domiciled in any country outside the UK.

You must also meet all the academic entry requirements of your chosen degree programme, including English language proficiency. 

You will be offered a free English test if you are awarded the scholarship. 

This scholarship is for STEM full-time, on campus Master’s programmes at the University of Edinburgh. STEM programmes are offered by the University’s College of Science and Engineering.


  • Full funding for overseas student tuition fees.
  • A Stipend of £20,780 to cover living expenses (including accommodation, bills, travel and food) whilst you are studying in Edinburgh.
  • Travel costs will be fully covered (including visa costs, NHS surcharge, flights and any travel accommodation).

The University reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to amend or withdraw any of the advertised scholarships, without further notice.


The successful candidates will be notified by email by mid-May 2026.  If you have not heard from us by then, please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application. 

The successful scholars may be expected to meet informally with the donors on occasions, participate in events surrounding this scholarship, or be required to submit a short statement of progress that will be shared with the donors. They will also join the Education Beyond Borders cohort of students at the University of Edinburgh, where they can take advantage of additional support, a mentor scheme and an active social and cultural programme.

This award is for students starting in the academic year 2026-2027 and cannot be deferred.  All scholarships are awarded subject to students accepting award Terms and Conditions.
