Funding for Disabled Students

Disabled undergraduate and postgraduate students from the UK may be eligible to apply to different sources for financial assistance with their studies. 

The amount available varies depending on which student funding body supports your fees and maintenance loans. it also varies depending on the kind of assistance you require. Indicative amounts below are for the 2025-26 academic year, and are subject to change.

DSA is a fund to support disabled students and those with additional learning needs. You need to be studying a higher education course and have extra costs because of your impairment. SAAS will fund the cost of electrical equipment, paper, printing, software, training, travel expenses and Non-Medical Personal Help (NMPH).

The application for DSA is separate from your online funding application and should be completed with assistance from the University’s Student Disability Service.

SAAS can only confirm what funding you can get once they have received your completed application form.
