G-Research PhD Scholarships

G-Research PhD Scholarships funds 3 PhD scholarships over a 3-year period (2025-2028). They are awarded to Home/UK students wishing to study PhD programmes hosted in the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training for Designing Responsible Natural Language Processing in the School of Informatics.

This funding aims to support students with proven and potential academic excellence, enabling the School of Informatics to offer these scholarships to their very top candidates. The scholarships help unlock opportunities for talented individuals to make meaningful contributions to cutting-edge research in NLP. 

Students in receipt of these scholarships benefit from mentorship and a range of career development opportunities offered by G-Research and others, including:

  • A bi-annual career mentorship meeting with a G-Research Quantitative Researcher
  • Invitations to presentations and seminars
  • A place on G-Research’s Spring into Quant Finance programme during the second year of the scholarship
  • An annual dinner hosted by G-Research
  • Brand ambassador status

G-Research PhD Scholarship for academic year 2025-26 has been awarded.

The PhD Scholarships are awarded to students wishing to study PhD programmes hosted in the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Designing Responsible NLP in the School of Informatics.

Potential candidates will be reviewed against the following criteria:

  • Home/UK students
  • A high 1st class undergraduate degree in maths, physics, engineering, computer science
  • Evidence of achievement in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
  • Evidence of excellence at undergraduate level, i.e., prizes
