If you are a first degree student and ordinarily resident in Scotland, you are eligible for your tuition fees to be covered by by the Scottish Government. Tuition Fees Full-time Scottish domiciled students who meet the residence conidtions set by SAAS must apply for the payment of their tuition fees. You will need to complete an online application by the required deadline with the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). You can make your funding application from April 2022 onwards. We advise you to make your application early and by 30 June 2022 to ensure that your funding is in place for the start of the session. You must apply to SAAS every year you are studying if you want help with paying your fees. Student loans In 2022-2023 the maximum loan available to dependent students is £6,100 and for independent students it is £7,100. The maximum non income-assessed loan is £5,100. Bursaries Bursaries are non-repayable grants made available to some students for living cost support. These replace part of the student loan and do not have to be paid back. In 2022-2023 a Young Students’ Bursary of up to £2,000 is available for those students whose household income is below £21,000. This reduces to £1,125 for those with a household income below £24,000, and £500 below £34,000. In 2022-2023 an Independent Students' Bursary of up to £1,000 is available for those students whose household income is up to £20,999.
