Drysdale Scholarship

The Drysdale Scholarship has been created by the University of Edinburgh to support the study of the Fire Engineering Science.

The Scholarships are named after Emeritus Professor Dougal Drysdale. Professor Drysdale was one of the founding members of the University’s Department of Fire Engineering in (first intake 1974) and has been a driving force behind Edinburgh’s research and educational efforts since that time. Professor Drysdale’s Introduction to Fire Dynamics is one of the foundational textbooks for the field, and is used by students and practitioners (not to mention academic staff) all around the world.

Each year, up to seven Drysdale scholarships will be awarded: five domestic (UK) scholarships, and two international scholarships. Applications are open to individuals from any background, provided they can meet the criteria.

Awards

The Scholarship covers successful applicants’ tuition fees. On commencement of study, scholarship awardees will also receive a copy of Drysdale’s Introduction to Fire Dynamics.
