This scholarship is awarded for postgraduate Masters study in English and/or Historical Linguistics, within the School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences.

Award

We are offering one scholarship, to cover the UK tuition fee level for MSc study. Applicants due to pay international tuition fees will be liable for the difference between the UK rate of fee and the international tuition fee.  This award will be tenable for one academic year. 

This award will be tenable for 2025-2026 academic year and will be automatically deducted from your tuition fee 

All scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community, and will engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award.  

Eligibility

This scholarship will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on one of the following programmes of study, within the School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.

  • MSc English Language
  • MSc by Research English Language
  • MSc Linguistics
  • MSc by Research Linguistics

Preference will be given to applicants for the MSc by Research programmes and graduates of the University of Edinburgh.

Candidates must have, or expect to obtain a First Class Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent.

Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
