Carnegie Masters Grant

This new scheme helps students from low-income Scottish households undertake masterʼs programmes of study at Scottish universities. It helps to cover the cost of tuition fees and, in some cases, will offer additional support for study costs. Please note applications will open from 1st May 2026.

DataLab/School of GeoSciences Scholarships in GISEO

The School of Geosciences, with support from the Data Lab Academy and the Scottish Funding Council are offering one fully funded scholarship for the MSc Geographical Information Science and Earth Observation for the 2026-27 academic session. The successful recipient must undertake specified courses in spatial data science as part of their Masters degree.

Chevening Scholarships

The scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one year Master’s degree at universities across the UK. There are over 43,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.

For the 2027/2028 academic session, applications for the Chevening Scholarship will open at 11.00am (UTC) on 4th August 2026.

Association of Turkish Alumni and Students in Scotland (ATAS) Award

An agreement has been made between the University of Edinburgh and the Association of Turkish Alumni and Students in Scotland, to establish and fund an award for Turkish PhD students at the University of Edinburgh.

Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)

The BBSRC is the UKís principal funder of basic and strategic research in the non-medical life sciences funding research in areas such as genomics, stem cell biology, and bio-nanotechnology, whole organism biology and biological populations and systems.

The Canada Student Loans Program allows students to borrow money from the Government of Canada to pursue higher education.

Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland (Undergraduate)

For Scottish students studying at a Scottish University towards a first degree who do not qualify for free tuition fees. The Trust offer fee assistance for students who are not eligible for assistance from SAAS.

Chemistry Tercentenary Access Bursary

Thanks to their contributions, access bursaries are available to support undergraduate students of outstanding potential, with 3 more bursaries available in the next academic session for new students joining in September 2026. The bursaries will be awarded to UK-based applicants who are accepted for full-time admission to an undergraduate degree programme offered by the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.
