Two scholarships, each worth 300,000 JPY, are available to Japanese students undertaking postgraduate study at a Scottish University. Background Established in 2009 by the Japan Scotland Society to commemorate the founder, Mr Takahashi Yoshiteru, and long-time donor and supporter of the society, Mr James T Howat. Eligibility Applicants must satisfy the following criteria: Applicants must be Japanese nationals planning to enter a postgraduate course at a Scottish University Applicants must undertake to be active in Japan Scotland Society (JSS) after completion of their studies, (recipients will be expected to report on their studies and activities to JSS after completion of their studies). Japan Scotland Society (JSS) Completed applications should be sent to JSS with the required documentation. Applications open in January of each year and close on the last day of May. Selection Procedure All complete applications received by post January-May each year, whether from applicants currently in Japan or applicants currently outside Japan, will be considered. Selection will be made by the board of the Japan Scotland Society. All applicants will be notified in writing, at the end of July of whether or not their application has been successful (provided a Japanese mailing address has been supplied).
