OPTIMA is a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) funded by both the EPSRC and the MRC in recognition for our use of cutting-edge optical technology to address key clinical questions via medical imaging. OPTIMA is hosted by the University of Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde.

The UK government offers a postgraduate loan scheme for those that meet their nationality and residency criteria who have most recently been resident in England.

Postgraduate Loans (PGL) are available for full-time and part-time postgraduate Masters degree study.  They are a contribution towards your cost of study and it is at your discretion to use the loan towards fees or living costs.  They are non-means tested and will be paid directly to you in three instalments each academic year.

The Northern Ireland government offers postgraduate loans to UK Nationals (and those with settled status in the UK) who have most recently been resident in Northern Ireland.

Loans are available for postgraduate Masters, Diploma and Certificate programmes.

The Scottish Government offers postgraduate loans to those who are due to commence a taught or research Masters or Postgraduate Diploma programme of study.

Loans are available for full-time and part-time postgraduate Diploma and Masters programmes. You have to be studying an eligible PG Diploma or Masters programme.

The Welsh government offers a Postgraduate Masters Finance scheme for UK Nationals (and those with settled status in the UK) who have most recently been resident in Wales.

Postgraduate Masters Finance is available for full-time and part-time postgraduate Masters degree study.  The Master Finance is a contribution towards your cost of study and it is at your discretion to use the finance towards fees or living costs.  This will be paid directly to you in three instalments each academic year.

The Society offers a number of research grants for postgraduate research and a scholarship for postgraduate masters study.

The Business School Dean's Excellence Scholarship programme is based on merit and is available to applicants holding an offer for a taught Masters commencing in September 2026 at the Business School.

The Business School EU Regional Scholarship programme is based on merit and is available to applicants holding an offer for a taught Masters commencing in September 2026 at the Business School. Only offer holders domiciled in the EU are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
