The Luksic Scholarship for Sustainability & Data at the Edinburgh Futures Institute

These scholarships will support applicants who are Chilean citizens domiciled in Chile for entry in 2026/2027 for MSc programmes in Data & AI Ethics and Circular Economy at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI), for full time, on campus study.

We are offering three scholarships, for the sum of £56,330 each. These awards will be tenable for the 2026-2027 academic year and tuition will be automatically deducted with remaining funds being awarded towards living costs and travel fees. 

Scholarships are available for full-time, on-campus study on the Data and AI Ethics MSc programme or the Circular Economy MSc Programme

Scholarship applications for the 2026/2027 academic year are now open and will close at 23:59 (UK Time) on Thursday 26th March 2026.


  • The scholarships will be awarded to new applicants who have received an unconditional offer to the MSc in Data and AI Ethics or the MSc in Circular Economy at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, commencing in September 2026.

     

  • Applicants must have, or expect to obtain, the equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

     

  • All scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community and will engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award.  We offer our postgraduates a range of training and development opportunities appropriate to their programme of study.

     

  • Students applying for this scholarship are expected to study on campus, full-time and must be a Chilean citizen/permanent resident domiciled in Chile. Please note that applicants holding dual nationality with a nation that allows them to pay local fees would not meet the eligibility criteria.

     

  • The scholarships are awarded on academic merit; however, candidates should demonstrate in their written statement some or all of the following: 

    - an interest in social change in Chile

    - evidence of work experience either in the public sector or in a role with strong social impact

    - be the first in their family to attend University

    - come from a region outside of Santiago

Students on postgraduate programmes longer than one year may apply but must be aware that this funding is for one year only, therefore, students are advised to budget accordingly.

In order to gain access to the scholarship application system applicants must have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh. Please note that, following the submission of an application for admission, it can take up to five working days for all system checks to be completed and access to be granted. We highly recommend you apply for the scholarship well in advance of the scholarship deadline date should you encounter any technical difficulties with your application which need resolved.
