In partnership with Edinburgh Rugby, a scholarship is available to fund (UK fees) a full-time MScR project. This project, focused on off the ball activity in professional rugby, will answer real-world questions which the rugby club want to answer, with research looking to provide real-world answers to enhance process and delivery of performance analysis support

The scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one year Master’s degree at universities across the UK. There are over 43,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.

For the 2027/2028 academic session, applications for the Chevening Scholarship will open at 11.00am (UTC) on 4th August 2026.

The deadline for applications will be 11.00am (UTC) on 6th October 2026.

This scholarship is for teachers registered with GTCS (General Teaching Council for Scotland) who would like to self-fund through the Postgraduate Diploma in Inclusive Education (deaf learners). Passing the diploma means the teacher can be a qualified teacher of deaf children and young people.

The Kathleen Meek PhD Scholarship (for the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures) is designed to attract high quality students applying for PhD research in English Literature.

One PhD is available for Home fee-status applicants to the PhD English Literature within the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures. Students with international fee status are not eligible to apply.

One PhD is available for Home fee-status applicants to the PhD Linguistics & English Language within the School of School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. Applicants should be working on a topic in the field of English Language. Students with international fee status are not eligible to apply.

Thanks to their contributions, access bursaries are available to support undergraduate students of outstanding potential, with 3 more bursaries available in the next academic session for new students joining in September 2026. The bursaries will be awarded to UK-based applicants who are accepted for full-time admission to an undergraduate degree programme offered by the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.
