The British Standards Institution Scholarship for AI & Data Ethics at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh

Each of these scholarships will support applicants who qualify for Home Fee Status for entry in 2024-2025 for the MSc in AI and Data Ethics at the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

Award

We are offering 2 scholarships, for the sum of £37,600 each. These awards will be tenable for 2024/25 academic year and tuition will be automatically deducted with remaining funds being awarded towards living costs.

All scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community and will engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award.  We offer our postgraduates a range of training and development opportunities appropriate to their programme of study.

Eligibility

These scholarships are for new applicants to Edinburgh Futures Institute’s MSc in AI and Data Ethics, commencing in September 2024. The award is for full-time study only.

To apply for the scholarship an applicant must be a UK citizen, and must have, or expect to obtain, the equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit, however we will also consider whether the candidate can demonstrate a financial need.

Criteria

Students on Postgraduate programmes longer than one year may apply but must be aware that this funding is for one year only, therefore, students are advised to budget accordingly.

Applying

The scholarship deadline is 11:59pm BST 11th July 2024.

To be considered for the award, eligible applicants should submit a short statement (less than 500 words) outlining:

Their objectives and motivations for the programme and scholarship; how their undergraduate degree was financed; how receiving this scholarship would affect their studies; any areas that are of particular interest; and how they intend to use their learning from the programme.

Statements should be submitted by email to EFI.education@ed.ac.uk prior to the scholarship deadline. of 11 July 2024.

Notification

Applicants will be notified the outcome of their application by the end of July.
