The Phyllis and Eileen Gibbs Travelling Research Fellowship 2026-2027

Supporting post-doctoral women researchers carrying out substantial fieldwork outside the UK and Ireland. The Fellowship pays research, travel and subsistence expenses of up to £18,000.

Gibbs Fellows are elected senior members of Newnham College, Cambridge, for the duration of the fellowship, with research support and associated benefits.

In order to be eligible, applicants must:

  • be a woman who is or who has been a member of Cambridge University
  • have considerable experience of research (at doctoral level).
  • be doing a project in either Biology, Archaeology, Social Anthropology or Sociology.
  • be doing fieldwork outside the UK, Ireland, and one's own country of residence.

Any award must be used for expenses in the field.
