What happens if the examiners recommend resubmission. Following the viva, the examiners may ask students to carry out further work on the thesis and to resubmit it for the same or a different degree. If resubmission for a different degree is recommended, the examiners may require minor corrections or more substantial work on the thesis. Where more substantial work is required the examiners will stipulate what is needed and set a period for resubmission. Supervisors will guide students through the necessary steps to meet the examiners’ requirements and continue to provide supervision as needed. Students will get a clear written statement from the examiners, approved by the College Committee, of what revisions are required. The examiners will assess the resubmitted thesis against the written statement on re-examination and will not introduce any new criticisms of previously examined material. The College Office will be able to advise on the resubmission process. This article was published on 2024-07-29
