Processes for annual monitoring, review and reporting are in place across all credit-bearing provision and short courses and support systematic reflection and enhancement.

Arrangements for 2025-26 Reporting

The following changes have been made to the templates for 2025-26:

School and programme templates 

  • The Learning and Teaching Strategy has been added as a new box for 2025-26. Schools and programmes are asked to report on any activities or initiatives which contribute to the Strategy, as well as any planned activities in order to align with the Strategy.
  • The Student Voice section has been updated to better explore practices across programmes and Schools.
  • In some sections, the questions have been broken down to address different aspects of the theme/question. This is intended to allow for better analysis and more consistent returns. 

The templates also have some minor formatting changes to align with accessibility standards.

When required, specific response boxes are included in templates to ensure that updates on key institutional issues are covered in reports. For 2025-26 reporting we have asked for specific reflections on the following institutional priorities:

Annual Programme Monitoring

Schools carry out annual programme monitoring, implementing a process which meets both local contexts and institution-wide principles and uses standard data.  Schools will decide on the optimum clustering of programmes. All credit bearing courses offered by a School are included. All programmes are monitored annually.

School Annual Quality Report

Schools report annually to Senate Quality Assurance Committee on key themes and actions from in-year monitoring, review and reflection, providing institutional oversight of issues and good practice.

School reports will inform the University’s annual report to the Scottish Funding Council. 

A new institutional annual quality reporting process to the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) has been implemented from 2024/25, the Self-Evaluation Action Plan (SEAP). The SEAP replaces both the previous annual quality reporting process and the learning and quality aspects of the Outcome Agreement process.   

College Annual Quality Report

Colleges will submit annual quality reports to Senate Quality Assurance Committee.
