Boards of Examiners

Updates to Boards of Examiners Handbook, and External Examiners for Taught Programmes and Programme and Course Handbooks policies.

New

Exceptional Circumstances Policy

The new Exceptional Circumstances Policy replaces the existing Special Circumstances Policy, and the provisions of Taught Assessment Regulation 28 regarding coursework extensions. More information about the new policy is available here:

Updated

Handbook for Boards of Examiners for Taught Courses and Programmes

We have reduced the duplication of information about Boards of Examiners between the Taught Assessment Regulations and the Handbook. The revised Handbook also provides more clarity around the operation of Boards and the responsibilities of different role holders. The policy also offers guidance around balancing efficient membership of Boards with ensuring sufficient expertise to make robust decisions. Cohort Leads are now permitted to act as the Convener of the Board of Examiners, where appropriate.
