Paid leave for funded students is available in some circumstances. Some funders will provide paid sick leave for absences covered by a medical certificate for a specified maximum duration. Additionally, some funders will provide paid or unpaid short-term time off for emergencies and/or compassionate leave, such as for (but not limited to) bereavement, stillbirths, serious illness or injury of a dependent, or dealing with emergency situations. Students should refer to the terms and conditions of their scholarship for details of included provision, noting that students with a stipend that is funded or administered by the University will be entitled to provision on the same terms as UKRI-funded students.
