Book your International Check-in

Follow the instructions below to book your appointment for the International Check-in.

January 2026 International Check-in

We’d like to inform you that appointments for January 2026 are now available 

Please make sure that you have completed your online registration before booking your appointment and have provided your eVisa share code well in advance before attending your appointment. 

  • Dates: Monday to Friday between 09:10 am to 12 pm OR 1pm to 4:25 pm
  • Location: Old College
  • Who is this for: Main Welcome Week event for all new students joining us for January 2026

Before you book your appointment:

  • Complete your Online Registration - you may not be able to book your international check-in appointment if you have not completed your online registration.
  • Send us your eVisa Share Code well in advance - we will need to process your eVisa Share Code and have your visa information logged on your record to complete your international check-in. If you have not provided us your eVisa Share Code before attending your appointment it may cause delays in completing your check-in.

Standard Visitor visa or ETA Holders - For students entering on visitor permission for 6 months or less:

  • Complete your Online Registration - you may not be able to book your international check-in appointment if you have not completed your online registration.
  • No eVisa Share Code required - If you hold a Standard Visitor visa or an ETA for six months or less, you won't have a Share Code and don't need to provide one. You also don't need to provide evidence of your ETA. Please just bring your passport and evidence of your arrival to the UK.

Bring to your Appointment: 

  • Appointment booking details - When attending your International Check-in appointment, please ensure you have your appointment details readily available
  • Original passport
  • Visa decision email from UKVI
  • UK arrival evidence (boarding pass, passport stamp, or travel ticket)

How to book an appointment

  1. Click on the 'Book an Appointment' link below
  2. Select 'International Check-In - Old College Main Reception (October to December 2025)' service
  3. Select the date and time.  One Booking Only: Please select your appointment date carefully before booking. Please do not make multiple bookings for different dates.
  4. Add your details.  To avoid you missing the booking confirmation, please use your University of Edinburgh email account
  5. Provide required additional information, including your Student Number / UUN (e.g. S1234567)
  6. Tick privacy notice box
  7. Click 'Book'
