Applications for your dependants

Your partner and children might be able to apply to stay in the UK as dependants on your Graduate visa.

Your partner and children

If your partner and children want to stay with you as your dependants while you have a Graduate visa, they need to:

  • be in the UK as dependants on your Tier 4 or Student visa

  • provide evidence of their relationship to you

Children born in the UK

You can also apply for dependant visas for your children, who were born while you were in the UK on your current Tier 4 or Student visa. They must have been born in the UK.

For each child you will need to provide a UK birth certificate, which shows the names of both parents.

How your partner and children can apply

All your family members must:

  • submit separate visa applications as your partner or as your child

  • prove their identity

  • add the required documents

  • provide the number you get when you apply, your Unique Application Number (UAN)

  • pay the visa fees for two or three years (depending on the length of your visa)

After your partner and children have applied

Once your dependants have completed all steps of their visa applications, they can expect a decision within eight weeks.

They must stay in the UK until they get the decision. Visa applications will be automatically treated as withdrawn if applicants leave the UK.

Bringing dependants to the UK

Family members will not be able to join you as your dependants from outside the UK while you are on a Graduate visa.
