Fee arrangements for part-time masters

Our policy explains tuition fees for part-time postgraduate taught study, including those invoiced at course level (part-time intermittent study).

Tuition fees for part-time postgraduate study are pro-rated to the annual tuition fee for a full-time masters programme.

Masters programme of two or three years

If you are studying a part-time masters degree programme of two or three years, you will be charged either 50% or 33% (as appropriate) of the full-time fee applicable to your programme of study in each academic session.

Single course, Certificate or Diploma

If you are admitted to a single course, Certificate (PGCert) or Diploma (PGDip), you will be charged proportionally to the appropriate full-time masters-level annual fee, calculated on the basis of the number of credits taken. 

Tuition fees for invoiced at course level/part-time intermittent study

We offer part-time intermittent degrees both via online and on-campus modes of delivery.

Part-time intermittent study applies to students:

  • taking taught programmes offered on a part-time intermittent study basis, or
  • repeating individual courses

If you are studying for a degree on a part-time intermittent study basis, you will be invoiced separately for each course. We refer to this as Invoiced at Course Level (ICL).

The total tuition fee for an ICL programme quoted when you are offered a place and in the degree finder is the total that would apply if you take all and only courses from within the standard courses offered as part of that ICL degree programme.

Taking courses from another programme

If you take a course from the courses offered as part of another programme while studying towards your ICL programme, you will be charged the fee that applies to that individual course. That fee may be higher or lower than the fee that applies to courses that are part of your ICL programme. 

This means the total fee that you are charged across the total length of your studies may be different to the fee quoted as the fee for your programme.

Fees for on-campus part-time intermittent study

For on-campus part-time intermittent study programmes, tuition fee rates are divided into Home Fee rate and International Fee Rate. The tuition fee rate you are charged will depend on your fee status.

Fees for online part-time intermittent study

Some online part-time intermittent study programmes have the same tuition fee rate for Home Fee Rate and International Fee Rate. Others have different tuition fee rates for Home Fee Rate and International Fee Rate.
