Location Modelling

Our Location Modelling service provides models and analysis which support and influence estate strategy through evaluating and predicting future space demands across the teaching estate

Location models are tailored to each individual stakeholder's requirements. We will discuss the most appropriate method of analysis with you when we receive your modelling request.

Standard analysis includes, but is not limited to:

Room Prediction Method (RPM)

The Room Prediction Method is a standard model which enables future teaching space requirements to be defined through the combination of core teaching demand and predicted student growth numbers. The model enables understanding of future space demands across the University campuses, both in terms of additional space required, and the appropriate configuration of the space. Evaluations can be generated at campus or department level.

The following document provides an overview of the key components of the model.

Utilisation Analysis

Utilisation analysis allows us to understand how well the estate is being used, through supplying frequency, occupany and utilisation figures for individual rooms, buildings and campuses. This service is available for all centrally bookable rooms. Understanding room usage can help drive decisions around additional space requirements, and the configuration of space.

Frequency figures for each campus will be published at the end of each semester on the Student Analytics Insights Hub.

Other models

Dummy Space Modelling
  • Space requirements through timetable dictation
Space Reconfiguration Modelling
  • Removal of or addition of new space
  • Capacity reconfiguration
