Process for allocationg all core teaching Room allocation process Room allocation is done in several stages. Priority Room Allocation Meeting (PRAM) To ensure the best use of space, the process first focusses on priority rooms (i.e. general teaching rooms for which the School has first claim). A meeting is organised during which both the School and the TTU work towards matching the highest number of teaching activities to the priority rooms of that School. Please note that PRAMs do not include specialist spaces (e.g. labs), these are allocated later on in the RAP. Room Allocation Process (RAP) Once the priority spaces have been filled, the room allocation process can begin. During this exercise, the TTU allocate as many remaining activities as possible in offline planning images. They then allocate for real in Live, using previous work as a template. To minimise the amount of travel for students between classes, they run a Travel Time Constraint report. This report will enable them to make sure there are no ‘official’ travel constraints for core programme course requirements. Declaration of teaching timetable to Schools Confirmation that the first draft allocation is complete is sent to Schools in the form of the Declaration email. Staff can then start checking specific room details. In addition, the Teaching Timetable for all University courses is published in Web Timetables and Course Timetable Browser. Allocation of remaining outstanding activities A small percentage of activities do not have rooms by the time Declaration happens. In liaison with Schools, the TTU allocate all remaining activities into rooms during this last stage. This article was published on 2024-07-29
