"Best-case" Heat-maps

Determine "best case" timeslots in the week for cross-Programme, Year or School events based on student timetable allocations

We know that Schools often want to host one-off events which are available to students across different programmes, across multiple years, even across entire Schools e.g. town hall meetings, study skills lectures.

As  there are often no clash-free slots available in the week for all associated students, the Modelling team can provide "best case" heat-maps, highlighting the spread of activity for associated students across the teaching week. These heat maps allow Schools to determine timeslots where the most students should be able to attend the optional session. The heat-maps is based on the number of clashing activities (the hotter the map the more clashing concurrent activities at that time)

Heat-maps can be run based on multiple programmes, multiple years, whole Schools, as requested, and are typically run for individual weeks, and one-off events.

Requests should be sent to student.analytics@ed.ac.uk
