The Academic Development team offers two online courses for PGR supervisors: Fundamentals of PhD Supervision and Fundamentals of PhD Examination. Fundamentals of PhD Supervision is a mandatory course for all research supervisors and should be refreshed every 5 years and complimented by local-level training. Fundamentals of PhD Supervision This course aims to help new supervisors develop their understanding of the role and responsibilities of PhD supervisors at the University of Edinburgh, and to encourage experienced supervisors to reflect on and develop their practice with an increasingly diverse PhD student population.
