2021 Conference - Curriculum as a Site for Transformation

The fourth University of Edinburgh Learning and Teaching Conference, ‘Curriculum as a Site for Transformation’, was held online from June 15th-17th 2021.

Keynote speakers

On Day One, we were delighted to be joined by two keynote speakers:

  • Professor Kerri-Lee Krause (Provost and Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor at Avondale University, Australia): Curriculum considerations in supercomplex times
  • Professor Emerita Rowena Arshad, (Chair in Multicultural and Anti-Racist Education at The University of Edinburgh): Diversity in learning and teaching: Is inclusion truly achievable? 

Day One also included the following panel discussions:

  • Reflections on Keynotes
  • Significant changes to my thinking about teaching since March 2020
  • Showcasing teaching practice from across the University

Conference themes

On days two and three, colleagues from across the University delivered a variety of engaging parallel sessions around the conference’s eight sub-themes:

  • Assessment and feedback for the future
  • Innovation in science teaching
  • Equality, diversity, inclusion and social Justice
  • New lessons in digital teaching – Insights from hybrid and online learning
  • Interdisciplinary learning and teaching – Local and global challenges
  • Experiential learning
  • Building community
  • Student engagement and involvement

This year’s conference also featured a range of posters and asynchronous sessions highlighting innovations and insights from across the University.
