Proof of student status letter A Certificate of Matriculation provides proof that a student was matriculated for a particular academic session. Certificates will only be produced if a student was fully matriculated for the relevant session. The following information is included on the certificate: Current and Previous Session(s); Personal Details: Name, Matric No.; Programme of Study details; Method of Study; and Programme start and (expected) end dates. Certificates cannot be customised to include additional information, however if you want to use your certificate of matriculation to support an application for a Schengen Visa this can be arranged. You should include detail of which consulate you are applying to under the "Any additional information" heading of the form. If you are making an in person appointment at a Consulate, you should have your certificate of matriculation before you make your appointment. If you want to collect your certificate of matriculation, you should ask us via the form, to email you when it is ready for collecion. I am a current student and require a Certificate of Matriculation Students who are currently matriculated can view, print and send their Certificate of Matriculation via the Electronic Document Service in MyEd --> Accounts --> My Student Record --> Documents. You may place an order Paper documents can be ordered, but there will be a delay in these orders being processed. We recommend that you send documents electronically via MyEd where possible. I am a former student and require a retrospective Certificate of Matriculation We can produce retrospective Certificates of Matriculation when needed. You will need to place an order for retrospective Certificates of Matriculation. There are some limits on how far back we can go and you may wish to place an order instead for an Academic Statement. I am a third party (e.g. employer, recruitment agency, university, etc.) wishing to verify current student status and dates of attendance We cannot respond to third-party enquiries to verify student status, even if you have a signed consent form from a student. You must ask current students to access their MyEd Student Self Service portal and send you their proof of student status (certificate of matriculation) electronically. You will receive an email from documents@ed.ac.uk containing a secure link to download the document. For more information about how third parties can verify student status and/or degree achievement, see our page on Third Party Degree Verifications. This article was published on 2024-07-29
