From the 11 to the 16 July 2024 the World Orienteering Championships will be taking place in Edinburgh. As a result, there will be several road closures in place across Edinburgh between the 12 and 16 July. Please see a list of all closures below. Friday 12 July 14:00 – 17:00 Johnson Terrace King’s Stable Road West Port Grassmarket CandleMakers Row Keir’s Street Heriot Place Castlehill Lawnmarket Mound High Street Cockburn Street Cowgate Chambers Street Blair Street South College Street Guthrie Street Monday 15 July Whilst there will be no road closures on the 15 July, there will be activities taking place around the Central area which will be busier than usual. Tuesday 16 July 14:00 – 17:00 All streets North and South of Holyrood Road covering the Holyrood Campus and Dumbiedykes (boundary is Canongate, Hutton Road, Holyrood Gait and Queens Drive). Holyrood Road St John’s Hill Brier Bauks Brown Street Viewcraig Gardens Viewcraig Street Pleasance is open but with road closure points along it. 16:00 – 18:30 Boundary is Holyrood Road, Horse Wynd, Calton Road, East Market Street, Niddry Street and Cowgate – although Cowgate is closed after Infirmary Street Wynd. Jeffrey Street, high Street (after Niddry going East) Cranstone Street Cowgate (after Infirmary Street Wynd going East) Blackfriars Street South Gray’s Close St Mary’s Street Canongate (and all small streets in Canongate) Old Tolbooth Wynd Hutton Road Pleasance is open but you cannot reach it from either Holyrood Road or the Cowgate. 17:45 – 19:30 Boundary is Holyrood Road, St Mary’s Street, East Market Street New Street and the train tracks.
