An overview of the Student route visa application process, the requirements to be met and the fees associated with the application. The Student route application process (new students)Before a student can be sponsored, there are a number of things that must be assessed:Admissions stagesOnce these matters have been assessed, and the student has accepted an unconditional offer, they will be prompted to request a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) through their EUCLID application screens.We do not issue CAS more than 6 months before the start of the programme (or 3 months for those applying from inside the UK), as this is the soonest the student can apply for their visa.There are three main stages of making a visa application:Visa applicationGathering CAS and supporting documentsOnline applicationAttending biometrics appointmentWe will email the CAS to the student and send them information about the application and the student gathers their supporting documents. These can include:Academic qualificationsFinancial documentsTB test certificateATAS certificateBirth certificateTranslationsPassportThe student:Completes the online visa applicationPays for the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) (£470 per year)Pays the visa application fee (£348)Scans and uploads their supporting documentsMakes an appointment at their nearest Visa Application Centre (VAC) At the appointment the student will:Provide their biometric information (digital fingerprints and photo)Show their original supporting documentsScan and upload their documents (optional for a fee)Submit or post their passportThe process normally takes around 3 weeks from outside the UK, and the student's passport is returned to them by post.The passport will contain a vignette, which is normally valid for 30 days prior to the start of the programme to allow the student to enter the UK.On arrival to the UK, the student will collect their Biometric Residence Permit.Further linksStudent route visa requirementsBiometric Residence Permit (BRP)UK Visas & Immigration information This article was published on 2024-07-29
