What do I do on the day of my exam? You should go to the location specified in the exam timetable. If you have not been to the location previously, you should check the campus maps. You should ensure you arrive at the venue on time: if you are late you will not receive any additional time. Campus Maps Do I need my student card to enter the exam venue? You must display your University Card on the desk throughout all written degree examinations. If a card is not produced, you will be required to make alternative arrangements to allow your identity to be verified before the examination is marked. What should I do if I turn up late to the exam? Students are not allowed to enter the examination hall more than thirty minutes after the start of the examination. Students arriving after the start of the examination are required to complete a "Late arrival form"; this requires you to sign a statement that you understand that you are not entitled to any additional time. More information can be found in the Exam Hall Regulations. If you arrive after 30 minutes you will not be permitted into the venue. If you cannot attend your exam, you should contact the school office or your Personal Tutor. What stationery should I bring to the exam? You should carry with you a pen, pencil (for MCQ papers only) and eraser, along with any additional materials which the school may have suggested. Can I write my answers in pencil? No: all script books must be completed in ink. The only time you can use pencil is for MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) Can I take a dictionary into the exam? You must contact your school office to have permission to take a dictionary into the exam venue. The school should give you a letter on official paper, stating that you are allowed to use the dictionaries. It must also confirm in which exams you can use the dictionary. On the day of the exam you must show the invigilator the letter. Electronic dictionaries are not permitted in exams. Can I use my mobile phone as a calculator? No. During an examination, students will be permitted to use only such dictionaries, other reference books, computers, calculators and other electronic technology as have been issued or specifically authorised by the examiners.
